Traveling Fee?

Q: Do you charge a traveling fee?


A: Yes, $.50/mile. Please contact me if you’re further away than 30 miles.

Min / Max?

A: Yes, I do require a minimum number of 10 guests and a maximum number of 25. The maximum number of guests will increase in the future

Workshop Length & Expectations?

Q: How long will the workshops last and what should I expect?


A: My parties last between 2-3 hours. This can vary depending on, following directions, distractions, attendees painting speed, etc. These parties are filled with fun, laughs and a take home decor piece! Below you can view an example of a party timeline.


Sample for 6:30- 9pm Party

  • 6:30pm: Arrive, mingle, snack and pour wine

  • 7:00pm: Decide on stain color and paint

  • 7:30-8:00pm: Let first coat dry. More wine, some snacks, more wine

  • 8:00pm: We apply the stencils and then we begin to paint! Its easy peasy folks! This takes anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on the details and color choices for everyone

  • 9:00pm: Remove stencils and admire your art!!!!!! You did it!! I'll be around to do any quick touch ups that you need. I have small brushes so we can fix any spots, I also have sandpaper on hand so we can sand down and distress if that's your thing too! 

We then ooh and ahh over everyone's pieces & take a group photo!

  • 9:30pm: Usually everyone is done by 9:30 depending on group size. I am able to stay up to 30 minutes past scheduled time to answer any questions and/or continue to help do touch ups. After the additional 30 minutes I do begin to charge my hourly rate, $30/hour.

Custom Designs?

Q: Do you create custom designs?


A: For my parties I have 50+ designs to choose from and hope that there will be something for everyone. In the event that a custom design outside of what I already offer is being requested, I am happy to accommodate but a design fee of anywhere from $15-$50 would apply depending on the difficulty of the design.


Please Note: At this time Custom Designs must not exceed 10-15 words and must stay within the personalized names/initials and dates area.

Food & Drinks

Q: Can I bring my own drinks/food?


A: Dovetails and Sash does not possess a valid liquor license and WILL NOT provide any type of alcohol. Incorporation of alcohol and food is up to the hostess. If your friends are wine drinkers a good rule of thumb is to have two bottles of wine for every 3 guests. This generally works out well as some guests will bring their own drinks.  I do recommend having plenty of water and non-alcoholic beverages as well as appetizers.

I’m not crafty or artistic

You don't need to be! I want you to come to my workshop for a much needed break, to relax and have fun with friends. The one thing I stress the most is to JUST HAVE FUN! The projects I choose are great for beginners or experienced alike. Plus, the instructor is there to guide you through your project.


Q: Do I need to pre-register or can I just drop in?


A: At this time, I do not provide a drop in option, so pre-registration is required. We want to be able staff appropriately. Please go to "Book a Class" to register for a workshop.

**Guests must register 5 days in advance or else a $10 late fee will be charged. This applies to host/hostesses paying by invoice in full as well. 


Q: Do you provide refunds?


A: Due to the preparation required and custom nature of my parties, I do not provide refunds. However, shop credit is given to you for a future party. I also do not provide refunds if your sign did not turn out how you intended. Please remember this is art and it is not supposed to be perfect! The design is in the control of the customer, but if a true mishap happens (i.e. paint spills all over your board!) I will of course provide you with materials to create a sign you love!

Workshops Locations?

Q: Where do you hold your workshops?


A: Most parties are held at the hostess’s home. Occasionally I hold events at local wineries, churches, restaurants, and businesses.

Please note that hosting a party outside of your home will require the hostess to schedule/book/coordinate their paint party with Dovetails and Sash as well as the desired location. Dovetails and Sash is solely responsible for arriving at a set location with all required materials to paint.


Q: Will I get messy?


A: I recommend everyone who comes dresses appropriately for using tools, paint, stain and sandpaper. You may get a little messy, so keep that in mind when you choose your clothing. I do provide (12) aprons, so that does help a little!

Age Limit?

Q: Is there an age limit for your workshops? ​


A: Yes, due to open paint/stains and the general nature of my parties I have an age limit of 15 and older. Don't be discouraged! I also offer kid friendly parties for 14 and under.
